Hutlee’ Project Helps Students Strengthen Math and Science Skills

Jaclyn Reamey from Dillingham, majoring in marine biology, takes a measurement during science lab while attending the August orientation session of the Hutlee’/Umyuarchdelee Project, managed through UAF’s Interior-Aleutians and Bristol Bay Campuses and funded by the National Science Foundation. Students from rural villages attended a week of orientation activities on the Fairbanks campus in the program designed to help students from rural Alaska pass college science and math classes.

Currently, 22 students are enrolled in the project which is in its third year of a five year grant. The group will reassemble in the Harper Building on the UAF campus the week of Oct. 27-31 and again in March for more hands-on science and math instruction.
