Learn about the aurora, bears, earthquakes, wolves, lightning and fire, the night sky and other wonders of Alaska by attending free public presentations at the 2004 Science for Alaska lecture series.

Expert speakers from the University of Alaska and special guest speakers from the Alaska Department of Fish and Game will give hour-long multimedia presentations that will appeal to people of all ages.

The annual series of six lectures will be held weekly on Tuesday evenings during January and February in Fairbanks. Similar lectures also will be offered in Anchorage and Juneau.

For educators, an associated one-credit continuing education course will be offered in Fairbanks and Anchorage. The course involves creating classroom lesson plans that incorporate National Science Standards and assessment techniques to teach current science topics.

The series is funded by the UAF Geophysical Institute and the University of Alaska Foundation.

Come and experience these exciting lectures!
