Ruth Lister dedication ceremony today

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Tanana Valley Campus will be holding a dedication ceremony for the Ruth Lister Student Gathering Area on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the Tanana Valley Campus Center at 604 Barnette Street.

Lister, who passed away in 2002, served as TVC director from 1991 to 1999. She was well-recognized for her emphatic advocacy for women and children, not only in her capacity at TVC, but also in her roles as director of the Enep’ut Children’s Center, director of Women in Crisis-Counseling and Assistance, and director of the Alaska State Women’s Commission under Governor Steve Cowper.

Scheduled to speak at the ceremony are Lister’s daughter, Cady Lister, University of Alaska Board of Regents President Brian Rogers, UAF Chancellor Marshall Lind, and TVC Director Jake Poole.
