Peace Corps master’s international program

Officials with the University of Alaska Fairbanks will signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Peace Corps, Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004.

The agreement will make UAF and the Peace Corps partners in the Peace Corps master’s international program. UAF students qualifying to enter the program will have an opportunity to integrate graduate study in rural development or natural resources management with the experience they will gain serving for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in a developing country.

To participate, students must be accepted both by the Peace Corps and by the graduate program of UAF’s College of Rural Alaska or the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences. Before leaving for their two-year Peace Corps assignment, students must complete at least two semesters of course work. On completion of the Peace Corps assignment, students will return to the UAF campus to finish the master’s degree requirements.

Students completing the Peace Corps option will be awarded a master of arts degree in rural development in the College of Rural Alaska or a master of science degree in natural resources management in the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences.
