KUAC/Alaska One TV joins other public broadcasters across the state to provide unprecedented coverage of the Conference of Alaskans on Feb. 10-12.

The Conference of Alaskans, called by Governor Frank Murkowski during his State of the State address in January, will play a significant role in determining the future of the Permanent Fund. The 55-member blue ribbon panel will convene at the University of Alaska Fairbanks at the site of the Alaskan Constitution signing nearly 50 years ago.

Bringing together the talents and resources of the Alaska One Network (KUAC-Fairbanks, KTOO-Juneau and KYUK-Bethel), and KAKM in Anchorage, and the statewide Alaska Public Radio Network (APRN) will set up remote broadcast facilities in the Wood Center Carol Brown Ballroom at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Alaskans will be able to tune-in to a variety of formats to get in-depth news and information on the conference proceedings.

Programs and formats include:

´ Live television coverage from the Wood Center at UAF of the entire conference on the Alaska Rural Communications Service (ARCS) and the statewide "Gavel to Gavel Alaska" cable TV service, seen locally on GCI cable channel 5.
´ Live video streaming of the main sessions on the web, as well as live audio streams of the breakout discussion sessions on www.ktoo.org/gavel
´ APRN will provide live radio coverage of the entire event sent by satellite to all APRN stations. Portions of the coverage will be heard locally on KUAC 89.9.
´ A special broadcast of APRN’s live radio call-in program "Talk of Alaska" from Fairbanks at 10 a.m. on Friday.
´ An evening wrap-up television program on Alaska One at 9 p.m. on Feb. 10, 11 and 12. Hosted by Bill McAllister, the program will include highlights of the day’s events and interviews with delegates, state officials and reporters covering the event.
