The University of Alaska Fairbanks North Campus Subcommittee will make public presentations on a management plan for the north campus area during the week of March 29, 2004. The public and university community will hear 20-minute presentations and view posters of the plan.
UAF’s Campus Master Plan, completed in 2002, is a comprehensive document calling for the development of several additional plans requiring in-depth analysis of specific areas. Separate subcommittees are working on circulation and parking, the north campus area and campus landscape.
The north campus area is an important UAF asset including miles of multi-use trails, two small lakes, an arboretum and acres of native forest. The area provides valuable research and educational opportunities for faculty and students and off-campus school groups, and recreational opportunities for and the university and the Fairbanks community. Increasing demands placed on the area require a corresponding management plan. The subcommittee is working to develop a plan for the area, that balances users needs while preserving its function as a multiple-use area. The public is invited to comment on the plan at one of the following forums:
Tuesday, March 30, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Borough Administrative Center in downtown Fairbanks
Wednesday, March 31, Noon-2 p.m.
UAF Wood Center, Rooms C and D.
Thursday, April 1, 4:30-6 p.m.
UAF Elvey Building Globe Room
