Rawlings, Hein named NRA All-Americans

Matt Rawlings and Joe Hein, who recently led the Nanooks to their sixth consecutive NCAA Rifle Championship and seventh overall title, were named first-team All-Americans by the National Rifle Association this week. Rawlings and Hein earned the association’s highest honor in both the smallbore and air rifle disciplines.

Karl Olsson, who competed in the NCAA championships with Rawlings, Hein and Jamie Beyerle, was named first-team All-American in the smallbore division and second-team All-American in the air rifle. Matthew Wallace was also named first-team All-American in smallbore.

UAF won the NCAA title with a team total of 6273, knocking off Nevada Reno in second with 6185. The Naval Academy was third with a 6182 with Army in fourth at 6176.
