Instructor and student at 2003 potpourriThe Fairbanks community will have a chance to explore the exciting world of science at the 11th annual University of Alaska Fairbanks Science Potpourri, where kids of all ages get to try their hands at hair-raising physics, combustible chemistry and gripping geology. Interactive experiments, exhibits and demonstrations will be on display from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004 at the Natural Sciences Facility on the UAF campus.

Featured fun includes making ice cream with liquid nitrogen, launching weather balloons, freezing flowers and cutting rocks. Visitors are encouraged to bring a favorite rock to the Rock Clinic. They can pour hot magma or peer at crystals through a microscope. Cook with chemists and make your own soda pop and slime. Discover survival secrets of ground squirrels and reindeer. Take a closer look at the human brain, the inside of a volcano, Cartesian divers and robots.

Free parking is available in the lot behind the Natural Sciences Facility at 900 Yukon Drive between the upper residence halls and the UA Museum. Science Potpourri is sponsored by UAF’s College of Science, Engineering and Mathematics.
