Pictured are the first five graduates of the UAF Tanana Valley Campus Radiologic Technology program, which represents a joint effort among TVC, the University of Alaska Anchorage and the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. The two-year associate of applied science degree helps prepare students for employment as radiologic technologists, specializing in producing diagnostic radiographs that demonstrate anatomy on medical X-ray film, fluoroscopic screens and other electronic imaging devices for purposes of diagnosis. Classes in the program are taught by local faculty as well as via audioconference with UAA faculty, while clinical experience is offered through FMH. The outlook for employment for radiologic technologists is excellent, as Alaska and the rest of the nation are experiencing a critical shortage of RTs.
