The UAF Summer Fine Arts Camp has been replaced with the UAF Summer Music Academy, sponsored by the UAF Department of Music and the Fairbanks Symphony Association. The Academy will take place on the UAF campus from June 14-26, 2004.

The Music Academy is an intensive two-week session for young musicians who have finished the 6th through 10th grades during the 2003-2004 school year. Students who have finished the 5th grade and have played their instrument for at least two years may also enroll.

Older students who have completed grades 11 and 12 are encouraged to attend the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, but may attend the Academy if unable to attend the Festival, or if they would like to participate in both events.

Students will have opportunities to participate in band, orchestra, jazz band, choirs, master classes, perform in chamber ensembles, jazz combos, and steel drum bands. Participants will also have opportunities to perform in weekday recitals, special events on solstice weekend, and a final concert for each large ensemble.

Dormitory housing is available on a very limited basis. There are several local families who are interested in housing out-of-town participants, if that is preferred.

The cost for the two-week session is $500.00.
