Danish author and lecturer to visit UAF

Danish author and lecturer Peter H. Fogtdal is visiting the University of Alaska Fairbanks and will give a public reading and lecture as part of his visit.

The reading will take place at the UA Museum of the North Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. He will present "Rescue of the Danish Jews" Monday, Nov. 1 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Wood Center conference rooms C and D.

Fogtdal wrote The Dreamer from Palestine, a national bestseller. He also wrote The Whipped Cream War, The Grand Tour and The Two Lives of Roberto Massani, a novel about a man’s spiritual journey to India.

In the past two years, Fogtdal has been on an extensive lecture tour around the U.S. and the world. He has lectured at the University of Hong Kong and the University of British Columbia. He has lectured and taught at the University of California Berkeley, the University of Wisconsin, the University of Washington and Oregon State University, where he taught advanced fiction and Scandinavian literature.

While in Fairbanks he will also speak to a world literature class studying the Holocaust and a Renaissance and Reformation history class. His visit is sponsored by the UAF history department and the Visiting Writers Series.
