Freshman goaltender Wylie Rogers posted his seond consecutive shutout Friday night and the University of Alaska Fairbanks rallied on Saturday night to post 5-0 and 5-3 victories against British Columbia in a pair of exhibiton games at the Carlson Center.
Rogers blanked the Thunderbirds Friday night, making 13 saves. The Nanooks got a late second-period goal from Nathan Fornataro and a third-period score from Kelly Czuy to hold off UBC Saturday evening.
The volleyball team came back in the fifth game to defeat Seattle Pacific, 30-26, 30-23, 20-30, 23-30 and 15-9 at the Patty Center Friday night. Senior Carlin Smith had three blocks in the fifth game, and senior Mallory Bergstrom added a pair of kills in game five.
Western Washington defeated the Nanooks on Senior Night Saturday, taking a 30-27, 30-28, 30-18 victory at the Patty Center. Smith and Bergstrom were honored prior to the match.
