A graduate of the University of Alaska Fairbanks who has a background in both commercial lending and basketball has been named the volunteer director for both the BP Top of the World Classic and the Mount McKinley Bank North Star Invitational Tournament.

Brian Hove, who currently serves as the Judiciary Committee aide to State Senator Ralph Seekins of Fairbanks, will take over as director, effective immediately.

A 1988 graduate of the UAF School of Management and a 24-year resident of Alaska, Hove spent 12 years in the banking industry as a commercial loan officer with National Bank of Alaska and Northrim Bank before joining Senator Seekins? staff.

Between 1996 and 2000, Hove served as a tour guide for foreign basketball teams visiting the United States while working with Basketball Travelers, Inc. He accompanied five different teams on tours of the western United States lasting two to three weeks. The teams played schedules of approximately a dozen exhibition games against NCAA Division I opponents, and he was responsible for logistics, including making sure the teams got to their game sites, to their hotels and to the next stop on their tour.

Hove’s main responsibility will be to serve as the liaison between UAF and tournament committees for the TOWC and the Mount McKinley North Star Invitational.
