The university fire department will be conducting live fire training exercises Saturday Nov. 13 on the University of Alaska Fairbanks campus. The training will take place at three vacant single-family homes on North Chandalar Drive. The houses at 715, 719 and 721 North Chandalar were built in 1962 and it is no longer practical to maintain them. The structures will be completely burned down once the training session is complete.

The estimated burn time is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. However, residents will need to move their vehicles to the south side of the street by 7 a.m. Access to North Chandalar will be restricted to residents only and the entire north side of the street will be used by emergency response vehicles. Residents will be able to leave the area as needed.

Sunday, Nov. 14 has been set as a possible second day to complete the training.
