A post-election panel discussion on third parties in the American political process will take place on Monday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. in the Wood Center Ballroom at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Panelists from a variety of political perspectives will take up questions such as: How should candidate debates be limited? With five recognized political parties (Independent, Democrat, Green, Libertarian and Republican) recognized in Alaska and two major political groups (Republican Moderate, Other), is it feasible to have a seven-member debate? How about 12? 34? Who sets the limits on candidate debates and news coverage?

Please join us for this timely discussion with panelists Elinor Burkett, chair, journalism; Terrence Cole, professor, history and northern studies; Jonathan Rosenberg, chair, political science; Russell de Forest, Green Party; Richard Seifert, Green Party; and Ray Metcalfe, Republican moderate.
