Author and journalist Joe LaRocca to visit UAF

Joe LaRocca, Alaskan journalist and author of "Alaska Agonistes : The Age of Petroleum, How Big Oil Bought Alaska" will give a public lecture at University of Alaska Fairbanks Thursday, Dec. 2.

The presentation will take place in the Schaible Auditorium at 6 p.m. He’ll also be visiting with students, staff and faculty from 1-2 p.m in Gruening room 402.

LaRocca has worked for the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner as a legislative corespondent and natural resources editor in the 1960s. He has been a freelance journalist and broadcaster since the 1970s reporting for the Anchorage Times, the Juneau Empire, KINY in Juneau and the New York Times.

His visit is sponsored by the UAF Office of Public History and the Alaska Living History program in the College of Liberal Arts.

The coffee and political history is sponsored by the political science department, Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society and Phi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society.
