Allen Lasater presents at $95,000 check to Jake Poole.
Allen Lasater, president of Flint Hills Resources Alaska in December, presented a $95,000 check to Jake Poole, University of Alaska Fairbanks vice chancellor for university advancement and community engagement.

"This generous gift will enhance programs and services in undergraduate research, financial aid and voc-tech," said Poole. "We’re fortunate that Flint Hills Resources continues to support endeavors that directly benefit our students and the programs that serve them."

In addition to establishing a Flint Hills Resources Endowed Scholarship, the money will be used to support activities in undergraduate research for students working with faculty and graduate students in the sciences, engineering and liberal arts, and a needs-based tuition grant for part-time students taking classes in workforce development and entry-level courses. Part of the donation will also be used to upgrade training equipment for the UAF Tanana Valley Campus emergency services program. These areas were identified as those having the greatest impact on the most students at UAF.
