There will be no classes and most offices at the University of Alaska Fairbanks will be closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Celebration of Alaska Civil Rights Monday, Jan. 17, 2005.

University of Alaska Civil Rights Day has been recognized at UAF since it was originally established in 1994 to honor Martin Luther King Jr., Alaska Native leaders and organizations and others who have led civil rights initiatives benefiting all Alaskans. The University of Alaska Board of Regents approved the day as a university holiday for staff, faculty and students in 2000.
