Ski trail plowing extended

UAF plowing for access to the Alaska SAR Facility dish will need to be extended through Friday, Feb 18, due to operational difficulties with the repair activity. Once the repairs are made, the snow will be able to be pushed back Friday afternoon and groomed the same day.

A section ski trail from the ski hut to the 11-meter antenna was plowed Tuesday, Feb. 15 to allow access for emergency vehicles and lift equipment.

Plowing is necessary to ensure the safety of workers climbing the antenna to perform required maintenance and equipment replacement.

Facilities Services is working with trail groomers to minimize impacts on the trail.

The Campus Master Planning Committee is exploring long-term options for year-round vehicular access.
