Unscheduled trail plowing due to mechanical failure

A section of the University of Alaska Fairbanks ski trail from the ski hut to the Alaska Satellite Facility 11-meter antenna will be plowed Wednesday, March 9 to allow access for lift equipment and emergency vehicles.

Plowed access may last until Friday, March 11. The plowing is necessary to ensure the safety of workers climbing the antenna to perform critical repairs.

Facilities Services is working with trail groomers to minimize impacts on the trails and to scheduled events.

The Campus Master Planning Committee is exploring long-term options for vehicular access to the antenna during the winter.
