Nationally acclaimed antiracist activist Tim Wise will return to Fairbanks to discuss the problem of racism in America. The following events are free and open to the public:

"But Some of My Best Friends are Black"| Racism and the Culture of Denial,"? Tuesday, March 29, 2:30-4:30 p.m. in the Wood Center Carol Brown ballroom.

"Beyond Diversity: Challenging Racism in an Age of Backlash,"? Wednesday, March 30, 7 p.m. in the Wood Center Carol Brown ballroom.

Wise will also hold workshops for the UAF community and for educators in the Fairbanks North Star Borough school district.

Wise has been called "The foremost white antiracist intellectual and activist in the nation," by Tom Mayer, professor of sociology at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Wise has spoken to more than 80,000 people in 47 states and on more than 350 college campuses. He has published extensively and has been a featured guest on hundreds of radio and television programs worldwide.

His visit is sponsored by the chancellor’s and provost’s offices, campus diversity and compliance, UAF’s leadership program, multicultural affairs, student activities and the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District.
