Swedish Sculptor Lars Vilks will present From Sliced Dala Horses to Fantastic Light: a view of contemporary
art from Sweden Monday, April 18, 2005. A public reception will take place at 6 p.m. in the Wood
Center multilevel lounge. The lecture will take place in the Carol Brown Ballroom
at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday April 19 Vilks will present Nature and the Authorities as Artistic Material. That lecture will take place at 11:30 a.m. in MUSIC 301.
Both events are sponsored by the Nordic Council of Ministers as part of a three-year initiative to promote a richer understanding of Scandinavia in the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada, and Alaska. The Scandinavian Initiative is a consortium of University of Alaska Fairbanks, University of Washington, Pacific Lutheran University, University of Oregon, Portland State University, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, University of Alberta, Edmonton, and Augustana University College, Camrose.
