Independent Native News’ Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock garnered a first place in the Anchorage Daily News Writing Contest in the Non-Fiction Category.
Independent Native News is a radio news program about Native Americans, Alaska Natives and Canada’s First Nations produced by public radio station KUAC at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The daily five-minute radio program is hosted by KUAC reporters Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock and Libby Casey.
With the recent addition of radio station KFAI in Minneapolis to the list of stations across North America carrying the program, the potential number of listeners to INN now exceeds 10 million. You can hear Independent Native News at 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on KUAC-FM 89.9 as well as on stations across Alaska and in cities such as Toronto, Houston, Boulder, Albuquerque, Portland, and Oshkosh. The University of Alaska Fairbanks is given credit at the end of every program.
