SFOS scientists, divers, and technicians are among a team of 45 researchers from the United States, Canada, Russia, and China, who will take part in a June-July exploration of the Canadian Basin, located in the deepest part of the Arctic Ocean.
The expediton is nicknamed Hidden Ocean because the region is covered by sea ice much of the year and little is known about the region. The research is sponsored by the NOAA Ocean Explorer program, and will operate from the U.S. Coast Guard icebreaker Healy.
