Fairbanks, Alaska "" The People’s Endowment Board at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is pleased to announce the award of funds for 2005-2006.
Grants were awarded to: Michelle Bartlett, Director for Summer Sessions, $3,400 to purchase art display cases; Cathi Bouton, Coordinator for ASL-TVC, $3,677 for the ASLTA Biennial Professional Development Conference; Edward Graeser, Vista Volunteer for the Outdoor Recreation Program, College of Rural and Community Development Kuskokwim Campus, $200 to purchase ice augers; Alice Palen, University Chorus member, $4,000 for the Carnegie Hall Concert Residency Program; Richard Seifert, Professor for the Cooperative Extension Service, $3,500 for the Service Energy Seminar Series; and Lt. Syrilong Tong, $200 for engravers for the University Police Department Crime Prevention Program.
The People’s Endowment was established at the UA Foundation in 1986. Initiated by Carla Helfferich as her winning entry in the Incentive Awards Program, its intent is to provide a source of funds for projects that will improve UAF but would likely remain unfunded due to institutional priorities. Grants are used for special projects or to fill a critical need at UAF. Funds for this endowment are solicited from faculty and staff; employees are encouraged to participate in the Power and Pride from Within employee campaign by directing a gift to the People’s Endowment or other Foundation funds. For more information see www.uaf.edu/giving/pride.
The next grant period will begin in January 2006.
