Arden Bement, (center) director of the National Science Foundation, visited the Institute of Arctic Biology’s Robert. G. White Large Animal Research Station at UAF Aug. 17 where he heard presentations from Bill Hauer, of the Institute of Arctic Biology, among others. Bement visited UAF a week after NSF awarded an $8 million grant to IAB for its Toolik Field Station, also one of NSF’s Long-Term Ecological Research sites, in the northern foothills of the Brooks Range.
