Conference of Young Alaskans nomination deadline nears

Friday, Oct. 28 is the last day to submit nominations for delegates to the Conference of Young Alaskans, slated to take place Jan. 13-16, 2006 at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

The event, part of the 50th anniversary of Alaska’s Constitutional Convention, is sponsored by the University of Alaska and President Mark Hamilton. It will draw 55 young Alaskans, ages 16 to 25, from across the state to focus on five issues affecting Alaska. During the weekend gathering, delegates to the conference will develop vision statements and propose courses of action.

The university will cover travel and lodging costs for all accepted delegates, whose names will be announced Nov. 11 at the University of Alaska Anchorage.
