Mark Neumayr, vice chancellor of administrative services at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, has resigned to take a position as university counsel for Northern Arizona University. He has served as the vice chancellor since March 2002.

The vice chancellor oversees business operations, purchasing, personnel, environmental health and safety and risk management, fire and public safety departments, and facilities services.

"During Mark’s tenure, the university saw one of the most active periods of construction in UAF’s history,"? said UAF Chancellor Steve Jones. "In addition to overseeing this period of growth, he has worked to streamline financial and purchasing processes as well as fiscal operations. The university thanks Mark for his service and wishes him well."?

Neumayr, an attorney, has served the university since 1982. Prior to his appointment as vice chancellor, he was senior associate general counsel for the University of Alaska statewide system.

Neumayr’s resignation is effective Jan. 1, 2006. Joe Trubacz, associate vice chancellor for finance and business operations, will serve as interim vice chancellor during the transition period. A search committee will be formed to fill the position.

Trubacz, who has been with the university in a variety of positions since 1990, has been associate vice chancellor for finance and business operations since June 2004. He oversees UAF’s budget, business operations, purchasing, grants and contract services, and Planning, Analysis and Institutional Research. Trubacz earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of New Hampshire in 1981 and a master’s degree in business administration from Southern New Hampshire University in 1983.
