UAF to host ’Inside Out’ preview event

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a preview event for high school juniors and seniors and their parents March 3-4 at the UAF campus. The free event, dubbed UAF Inside Out, is designed to introduce prospective students to the university. It will include presentations and workshops on financial aid, academic programs, residence life, admission requirements and extracurricular activities. In addition, students and parents are invited to participate in several entertainment events, including movies, a concert and free ski rentals and lessons. Prior registration is required and space is limited to 75 students.
Following is a schedule of events; all will be at the Hess Rec Center unless otherwise noted:
Friday, March 3
1:30 p.m. Cookies and light snacks.
2 p.m. Find out why Chancellor Steve Jones came 4,000 miles to be a part of this university.
2:30 p.m. Students: UAF professors are known for top-notch teaching and research, and for their rapport with students. Come see why! Held in the Natural Sciences building. Parents: Admissions, financial aid and residence life available to answer questions. Held in the Natural Sciences Building.
3:15 p.m. Tour the academic areas and talk with faculty members, look inside their facilities, and investigate numerous related majors. Held at various locations.
4:15 p.m. UAF has a lot to see and do! Various groups, along with a number of student clubs, will host booths at this event, held at the Student Recreation Center
5 p.m. OK, so what’s life at UAF really like? Ask a current UAF student while enjoying
a slice of pizza at the Student Recreation Center.
8 p.m. Nanook Theater, King Kong, in the Natural Sciences Building.
9 p.m. Somewhere between blues and punk, Tim Fite puts on a rockin’ good show!
1 a.m. We’ll put King Kong back on the screen for the late nighters.
Saturday, March 4
9 a.m. Breakfast.
10 a.m. Campus tour. Meet at Hess Rec Center.
11:30 a.m. UA Scholars and their parents are invited to find out what makes UAF the flagship campus of the UA system.
