The College Rotary Club Endowed Scholarship has surpassed a $135,000 goal set by its members when the fund was first established in 1997. Proceeds from the club’s annual rose sale have helped build this endowment over the years. Most recently, individual members made significant contributions to reach the goal.

The endowment will provide enough earnings to award four $1,500 scholarships to UAF students each year. Recipients must have earned their high school or GED diplomas within the Fairbanks North Star Borough. The scholarship is renewable for four years, as long as the recipient remains in good academic standing.

"This shows what can be done when folks adopt an idea and stay with it. We are thrilled to reach the goal," said Jim Movius, the College Rotary member who has spearheaded the scholarship fund and the club’s participation in the selection process for many years.

The College Rotary Club is one of UAF’s most steadfast supporters, according to Kim Davis, UAF’s director of advancement services.

"The club and its members have contributed funds to many projects on campus, from building a pavilion at the Georgeson Botanical Garden in 2005 to creating and growing this generous scholarship," Davis said. "Its members are among UAF’s truest friends."
