IBEW Nanook Fund Golf Scramble set for June 16

Fairbanks, Alaska--The University of Alaska Fairbanks Department of Athletics and Recreation announced today that the 22nd-annual IBEW Nanook Fund Golf Scramble will be held Friday, June 16, at the North Star Golf Club, located at 330 Golf Club Drive.

The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is in its third year as the title sponsor for the event, which raises money for Alaska Nanooks scholarships. The tournament is the Nanooks’ major yearly fundraising event.

Breakfast and registration will begin at 7 a.m., with a captain’s meeting being held at 8 a.m. and the shotgun start sounding promptly at 8:15 a.m.

Teams of four can register to participate in the tournament at a cost of $600, or $160 per individual golfer. Individuals and partial teams will be paired by the tournament staff to create complete teams of four.

Teams will be provided a catered lunch in addition to breakfast. Drink carts and a hospitality tent will be available on the course throughout the tournament.

Each golfer who participates will be entered to win two round-trip airline tickets on Alaska Airlines, which will be given away during the course of the tournament. In addition, each participant will receive a coupon redeemable for a free custom-fit Magique Golf M3 I-BRID Rescue Wood, valued at $125.

Each golfer will also receive a tournament gift, goodie bag and an opportunity to win additional prizes, including round-trip tickets for two on the Alaska Railroad to Denali National Park and to Anchorage.

The tournament’s hole-in-one prizes include a $10,000 cash prize, a Hawaiian vacation package for two, a new car from Auto Service Company and a set of Ben Hogan BH-5 Offset Irons.

Hole sponsorship opportunities are still available for $100 per hole. All donations to the Nanook Fund go directly to benefit UAF student athletes. Contact the tournament director for more information.
