UAF to offer free guided walking tours

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will offer free student-guided walking tours of the UAF campus each weekday throughout the summer.

The two-hour tours begin at 10 a.m. at the UA Museum of the North and are geared toward visitors and locals who want to learn more about UAF. The tour takes visitors through West Ridge to the lower part of campus and covers areas such as UAF’s history, research activities, campus life, academic accomplishments and highlights, athletics and more.

The tours will be held Monday through Friday until Aug. 31. There will be no tours July 3-4. For more information contact University Relations at (907) 474-7581 or e-mail fyurel@uaf.edu.

A separate tour for prospective students is offered by the UAF Office of Admissions. The tour begins at 10:30 a.m. in the lobby of Signers’ Hall Monday through Friday. For details contact admissions at (907) 474-7500 or e-mail admissions@uaf.edu.

Other summer tours available at UAF include the Geophysical Institute, International Arctic Research Center, Arctic Region Supercomputing Center, Robert G. White Large Animal Research Station, Georgeson Botanical Garden and Poker Flat Research Range.
