International child development expert Dr. T. Berry Brazelton will be in Fairbanks Aug. 2-3 to conduct a free evening lecture for parents and an all-day workshop for professionals who work with parents and children.
Brazelton, the author of 40 books on pediatrics and child development, is a professor emeritus at Harvard Medical School and founder of the Brazelton Touchpoints Center at the Children’s Hospital in Boston. He is well known to Lifetime viewers for his frequent television appearances and to readers of the New York Times and Family Circle magazine for his popular columns on the art of raising children.
The public is invited to attend a parents’ night presentation on Wednesday, Aug. 2 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the UAF Davis Concert Hall. Brazelton will speak about stresses and supports for families and will share proven strategies for raising healthy children and establishing self-esteem in parents and children. The lecture is free and no registration is required.
Thursday, Aug. 3, Brazelton will be joined by Dr. Joshua Sparrow, Maria Trozzi and Kristie Brandt to present a daylong professional seminar, "Building Communities Around Families."? The seminar is designed for pediatricians, psychologists, social workers, teachers, nurses and childcare professionals. Continuing education credits are available. The seminar runs from 7:45 a.m.-4 p.m. in the UAF Davis Concert Hall. Cost is $60.
