The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host the second-annual Alaska Information Assurance Workshop Sept. 5-6 at the Fairbanks campus.

The event, sponsored by UAF’s Advanced Systems Security Education, Research, and Training Center, will allow information assurance professional to interact with nationally recognized leaders in their field. In addition, the workshop will help identify the information assurance needs of Alaska and determine how the ASSERT Center can meet those needs.

Information assurance is a term used to describe digital security and forensics. The focus of this year’s workshop is digital forensics. Featured speakers include Ron Dodge of the Information Technology and Operations Center at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Julie Ryan of George Washington University, Dan Ryan of National Defense University, Melissa Dark of Purdue University Center for Education and Research in Information Security, and Kara Nance of the UAF ASSERT Center.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in information assurance topics.
