The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a preview event for high school juniors and seniors and their parents Oct. 20-21 on the UAF campus. The free event, dubbed UAF Inside Out, is designed to introduce prospective students to the university. It will include presentations on financial aid, academic programs, residence life, admission requirements and extracurricular activities. In addition, students and parents are invited to participate in several entertainment events, including a Governor’s Cup hockey game, a movie and games at the Wood Center. Prior registration is required and space is limited to 75 students.

Following is a schedule of events; all will be at the Hess Rec Center unless otherwise noted:

Friday, Oct. 20

1:30 p.m. -- Cookies and light snacks
2 p.m. -- Find out why Chancellor Steve Jones came 4,000 miles to be a part of this university.
2:30 p.m. -- Students: UAF professors are known for top-notch teaching and research, and for their rapport with students. Come see why! Location TBA
Parents: Get answers to your questions about admissions, financial aid, residence life and safety.
4 p.m. -- UAF has a lot to see and do! Various academic and extracurricular groups, along with a number of student clubs, will host booths at the Wood Center. Representatives from the 2:30 parents’ session will also be on hand to answer follow-up questions.
5 p.m. -- OK, so what’s life at UAF really like? Ask a current UAF student while enjoying a slice of pizza at the Wood Center.
6 p.m. -- Catch the UAF shuttle to the first game of the Governor’s Cup hockey tournament.
9 p.m. -- Play board games and watch a movie on the big screen while hearing about the UAF experience from current students.

Saturday, Oct. 21
9 a.m. -- Breakfast at Lola Tilly Commons
10 a.m. -- Campus tour. Starting point TBA
Noon -- UA Scholars and their parents are invited to find out what makes UAF the flagship campus of the UA system. Held at the International Arctic Research Center on West Ridge.
