UAF chancellor to address Fairbanks chamber

University of Alaska Fairbanks Chancellor Steve Jones will address the Fairbanks Chamber of Commerce general membership, Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 at noon at the Westmark Hotel.

Jones will discuss UAF’s top funding priorities surrounding research and teaching, student success, and Alaska legacy jobs. He will also give an overview of UAF’s 2008 top capital budget priority, construction of a new 110,000-square-foot biosciences facility to integrate teaching and research in modern labs. The facility will provide space for UAF’s expanding biology programs, which are advancing fundamental biomedical research and preparing students for careers in human and animal health. UAF, a Land, Sea and Space Grant university, is the only doctoral-degree-granting institution in Alaska.
