2007 New Music Festival to feature public concerts

The University of Alaska Fairbanks music department will host the 2007 New Music Festival Feb. 7-10 on the UAF campus. The four-day event will feature daily concerts open to the public.

The UAF New Music Festival highlights newly composed music and features the works of living composers and the musicians who perform those compositions. This year’s festival will feature the Boston-based piano team of Stephen Drury and Yukiko Takagi.

Following is the schedule of concerts during the festival. All concerts take place at the Charles W. Davis Concert Hall on the UAF campus.

Wednesday, Feb. 7, 6-8 p.m.
Performance clinic and lecture with Stephen Drury
Admission: free

Thursday, Feb. 8, 8 p.m.
Stephen Drury and Yukiko Takagi in concert
Admission: $10 for adults, $5 for students, military and seniors

Friday, Feb. 9, 8 p.m.
UAF faculty concert of contemporary music
Admission: free

Saturday, Feb. 10, 8 p.m.
UAF student concert of contemporary music
Admission: free
