New coach to keep Ferguson as assistant

Doc DelCastillo has yet to conduct a practice or guide his team during a game as the new head hockey coach of the Alaska Nanooks. But his transistion from five-year assistant coach at Central Collegiate Hockey Association rival Nebraska-Omaha became a little easier over the weekend, as he began to build a coaching staff by retaining a familiar face in the Nanooks program. Liz Claiborne legacy extends to Fairbanks

Internationally renowned fashion designer Liz Claiborne, who died Wednesday, has left a legacy at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The Liz Claiborne and Art Ortenberg Foundation, created by Claiborne and her husband, Ortenberg, recently donated $250,000 to the University of Alaska Foundation to create the George Schaller Fellowship at UAF.
