Art department to host public workshop

Local artisan John Manthei will lead a public workshop, "Wood and Wood Products as Media for Artists and Artisans," on Friday, October 5th at 2 p.m.

The free workshop will take place in the Native arts studio at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, room 301 of the Fine Arts Complex.

Workshop attendees will learn about wood species, the physical properties of wood, how to avoid common problems, how the plank emerges from the log, and how advancements in the wood products industry have expanded the woodworker’s repertoire.
