Rams roll in their first BP Top of the World contest

Returning just two players from last year"šs roster, Colorado State may not quite know what to expect from their team this season, but if its first game at the BP Top of the World Classic is any indication, the Rams have a bright future in store for them in 2007-08, as they trounced Oregon State, 69-56.

Stuart Creason proved to be too much inside for the Beavers, recorded the tournament"šs first double-double with a 17-point, 17-rebound performance. Thanks in large part to his seven-foot presence, Colorado State outrebounded OSU, 45-29. Junior guard Willis Gardner carried his fair share of the weight for the Rams as well, finishing with a game-high 20 points.

Oregon State could finish just one player in double-digit points, as Seth Tarver had 12. The Beavers shot just 24.2 percent in the second half, as they could not close the gap to more than eight points.

With the win, Colorado State extends their record to 1-1 on the year, while Oregon State drop to 0-1. The Beavers now face a matchup with hosts Alaska on Saturday, tipping off at the Carlson Center at 5:30 p.m., while the Rams move on in the winner"šs bracket to take on Tennessee State at noon Saturday.
