Integrating solar design into your Alaska home

With home heating fuel costs rising, solar energy is getting a closer look. The Cooperative Extension Service will offer a workshop on home solar design Saturday, Feb. 16, at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Rich Seifert, Extension’s energy and housing specialist, will lead "Integrating Solar Design Into Your Alaska Home" from 1-5 p.m. Saturday in Schaible Auditorium. Seifert will discuss Alaska-specific solar aspects, recent experience with solar hot water installations, photovoltaics andoptimizing passive design with energy conservation. There is a charge of $10 for the course text, "A Solar Design Manual for Alaska."
