The University of Alaska Museum of the North is expanding its hours to 9 p.m. this summer to offer visitors and local residents more time to explore the museum’s galleries. The museum is also starting its auditorium shows on Saturday, May 24, a week earlier than originally scheduled.

The museum is offering two auditorium shows this summer: "Dynamic Aurora" and "Winter." Both shows will be offered several times daily: "Dynamic Aurora" at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and "Winter" at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Additional showings may be added on a day-to-day basis as visitation demands. The shows are scheduled to run through Sunday, Aug. 31. Visitors can purchase a $5 museum show pass. The add-on to the general admission ticket grants visitors admission to all the shows that day.

In addition to the auditorium shows, the museum will offer an evening tour of the Rose Berry Alaska Art Gallery at 7 p.m. daily beginning on Sunday, June 1. Led by a volunteer docent, the tour will give visitors an introduction Alaska’s art and the themes presented in the gallery. Gallery tours are free with museum admission.

Museum admission is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors, $5 for youth 7-17 and free for children 6 and under. Museum members and UAF students (with valid ID) also receive free admission. Extended summer hours run through September 15. Information on the museum’s programs and exhibits is available at 907-474-7505 and online at www.uaf.edu/museum.
