Dozens of volunteers gathered at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Wednesday for the 14th annual Campus Flower Planting. Nearly 60 people from the UAF and Fairbanks community planted thousands of flowers in 33 beds, bringing an early splash of color to the campus core and West Ridge. After more than two hours of work, volunteers met for a barbecue in Constitution Park.
The Campus Flower Planting was started 14 years ago as a way to brighten campus and to invite community members to UAF for a morning of gardening.
Facilities Services crews will plant the remainder of the campus’ 114 flower beds in the coming weeks.
