In 2006, two deaths were attributed to insect stings in interior Alaska. According to Dr. Jeffrey Demain, director of the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Center of Alaska and associate clinical professor with the University of Washington, this event raised two questions: are there increased insect sting related events throughout Alaska and could there be a relationship with warming annual and winter temperatures?

Dr. Demain will discuss changes in the distribution of venomous insects and whether these changes are related to climate change during a statewide teleconference Tuesday, October 14th, 2008 at 10 a.m.
