UAF to host ’Inside Out’ preview of university life

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a preview event for high school juniors and seniors and their parents Friday, Oct. 17, on the UAF campus. The free event, dubbed UAF Inside Out, is designed to introduce prospective students to the university. It will include presentations on financial aid, academic programs, residence life, admission requirements and extracurricular activities. Prior registration is required and space is limited. Following is a schedule of events:

8:45 a.m.--Registration and breakfast in the Great Hall
9:30 a.m.--Overview of the day’s events and welcoming speeches in Davis Concert Hall
10 a.m--Students: Join in an icebreaker activity in the Great Hall.
Parents: Get answers to your questions about admissions, student research, residence life and safety.
11:15 a.m.--Students: Attend one of three UAF classes
Parents: Financial Aid 101
Noon--Lunch in the Lola Tilly Commons with Nanook athletes
1 p.m.--Various academic departments and extracurricular groups, along with a number of student clubs, will host booths in the Wood Center.
2:30 p.m.--Students: Quiz current UAF students about campus life.
Parents: Learn about student life and get tips on how to help your child succeed.
3:30 p.m--Campus tour
5:30 p.m.--Closing refreshments and speeches
6-8 p.m.--Visit campus living facilities during the Residence Life open house.
