The University of Alaska Museum of the North will hold its 14th annual military appreciation family day on Saturday, Nov. 8 from noon to 5 p.m. The annual event is free for all community members - active duty, veterans and civilians.
Explore the museum’s five exhibit galleries, including the special exhibit "Hunting and Trapping in Alaska’s Interior: Our Stories, Our Lives." Visit with Athabascan artists Ginger Placeres and Lena Sanford, who will demonstrate bead working and skin sewing. Get a head start on your holiday shopping with 10 percent off in the museum store. Gallery activity sheets and volunteer docents with materials from the museum’s hands-on collection will help children and families get the most out of their museum visit.
The museum’s military appreciation events have been supported by Wells Fargo since 2003. Wells Fargo mascot Jack the Dog will be greeting visitors to the museum on Saturday.
For more information on the museum’s upcoming programs and events, call 907-474-7505 or visit the museum online at www.uaf.edu/museum.
