Meteorologist to discuss climate variability

National Weather Service meteorologist Rick Thoman will discuss climate variability during a statewide teleconference Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 10 a.m.

Thoman’s presentation will touch on the difference between climate and weather and how Alaska’s instrument records influence scientists’ ability to observe climate. He will also explain the Pacific Decadal Oscillation and how it affects climate variability.

The event is sponsored by the Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy.
