At 4:28 p.m. the University of Alaska Fairbanks Police Department received a call from the father of a student requesting a welfare check on his daughter, Lauren Lecomte, 20, of Fairbanks. Officers responded to McIntosh Hall and entered a room on the third floor. Inside the room, they found a deceased female who was later identified as Lecomte.
Police say there is no obvious sign of foul play and a cause of death has not been determined. Lecomte’s family has been notified.
Lecomte was a sophomore at UAF. Staff members with the UAF Office of Residence Life are planning to hold a meeting with McIntosh Hall residents this evening. Counselors from the UAF Center for Health and Counseling will be available for students who need to speak with someone.
