The Susan Butcher Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks will host a free public event, "A Conversation with Olympic Champion Dorothy Hamill," Friday, March 6 at 5 p.m. in the Charles W. Davis Concert hall on the UAF campus.

During the event, host Robert Hannon will interview Hamill about her rise to the upper echelons of the figure skating world. They also plan to speak about Hamill’s two autobiographies: one dealing with her figure-skating career and the other focusing on how depression has affected her life. The interview will cover a broad range of topics, from Hamill’s battle with breast cancer to the challenges she faced as she balanced her career with motherhood.

The event will include time for Hamill to respond to audience questions. Immediately following the event, a free ice-cream social and book sale and signing will take place in the Great Hall.
