The University of Alaska Museum of the North is looking for photo submissions from community members for the upcoming special exhibit, "RENEW: Fairbanks Cityscapes."
This special exhibit looks at changes in Fairbanks in recent years through the eyes of community planners, local artists and residents. One feature of the exhibit will be a slide show of photographs submitted by community members that show how people live, work and play in Fairbanks.
"We wanted to add a community flavor to this exhibit, and what better way than to have residents share their images of life in Fairbanks," says museum exhibit design director Wanda Chin.
The museum is looking for a variety of images from statehood through today that show people working, relaxing and playing outside in the Fairbanks core - the area bounded by Fort Wainwright on the east, Farmer’s Loop on the north, the university on the west and the Tanana River on the south.
The museum will be accepting images online at www.uaf.edu/museum/exhibits/renew09/. Images submitted before March 23 will be incorporated into the slide show before the exhibit opens on April 4. Images will be accepted through May 4 and incorporated into the slide show weekly until the special exhibit closes on May 10.
More information on the special exhibit, including the guidelines for community submissions, is available online at www.uaf.edu/museum/exhibits/renew09/.
